Buddha Wisdom

Earth teach me to forget myself as melted snow forgets its life.

Earth teach me resignation as the leaves which die in the fall.

Earth teach me courage as the tree which stands all alone.

Earth teach me regeneration as the seed which rises in the spring.

Square Foot Gardening

I made a square foot garden for my sister. Here are the steps to create your own SFG.

1. Buy this book.

2. Get some wood… The amount depends on how big you want your garden to be… Since, my sister has about a million kids, we needed lots of wood. 2 12×4 boxes. You also need compost, vermiculite and peat moss (the amount depends on how many boxes you have, but it needs to fill up the boxes to 6 inches.) You also need string or wood lath to make your squares.

3. Drill the wood together. Measure a foot and use a string or piece of wood to make the squares and plant your seeds.

4. Take a break after all of your hard work.

Growing Guides

So many plants, so much to know… I have been looking for a book that would be a easy to use reference for planting a variety of garden vegetables. I went to the book store but couldn’t find the one that met all of my needs. Lucky for me, I found this great resource from Cornell University. It has growing guides from everything from Artichokes to Zucchini.
